This is Ottawa's oldest church, built on the site of St. Jacques Church, demolished in 1841. The original design was to be Neoclassical, but after the lower section was built, a Neo-Gothic design was adopted instead. The main structure was finished in 1846, but the spires were not installed until 1866.
