Jerusalem Church

Protestant Jerusalem's Church in Berlin-Kreuzberg. This church building was located in the crossroads of today's Axel-Springer-Straße, Rudi-Dutschke-Straße / Lindenstraße / Oranienstraße. On the postcard the view is directed northwards into Jerusalemer Straße, now blocked by the head quarters of Axel Springer AG covering the southern end of Jerusalemer Straße and the street behind the church on the northern side of the crossroads then named An der Jerusalemer Kirche. In 1943 the church was sold to Romania and served between 1944 and 1945 Berlin's Romanian Orthodox congregation, after an interior refurbish. The church was then consecrated as Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, however it has been destroyed in World War II on 3 February 1945 in an US air raid and its ruin was demolished in March 1961. New Jerusalem's Church was finished in 1968 more southwestwards in the crossroads of Lindenstraße and Markgrafenstraße.
