Blackwell Parish is one of the ancient parishes of Derbyshire. St Werburgh’s stands proudly overlooking the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Undoubtedly a church has stood on this site from at least the 7th century and a religious community has existed here much longer. The bells have been calling the faithful to worship from the late 16th century, with musical chimes leading to the striking of the hour on the tenor bell.
