Spitalfields: Roman Catholic Church of St Anne's Located on the south side of Underwood Road, E1, the church was built of Kentish ragstone with ashlar dressings, and mainly completed by 1855. It originally served a large Irish community who had arrived in the Spitalfields area during the potato famine of the late 1840s. The presbytery is to the left, and this view was taken, looking across the playground of St Anne's Primary School, from Buxton Street.
